Wyong District Pistol Club

A Bit About Us

We are a family-friendly, safety-first group. Founded in the early 1980s we are evolving a 50-metre and two 25-metre ranges. Whilst we are a pistol club, our range also has approval for the use of .22 rimfire rifles and offers long-arms safety training as the first step to obtaining a long-arms license. Please, scroll this page to get a better feel for who we are and what we do.

Safety First & Family Friendly

We are proud to be family friendly. If you inquire about becoming a member, it will become very clear to you that the type of person you are is important to us. Yes, we hold professional matches and take the sport very seriously, but we have built our club to be a warm and welcoming place for the whole family. We have folks from many walks of life in our club but you’ll notice straight up that it is an environment that is inclusive and respectful.
By the time you’ve had a couple of shoots with us, the safety will already be a part of the process for you. You don’t step over that line unless the range officer tells you to, you don’t ever put down a gun unless it’s flagged as empty, eye protection, ear protection, knowing the rules of safe practice… you’ll not only learn them, but you’ll be glad it’s the number one focus from us. In fact, on your first visit, before even learning most of this stuff, you’ll feel how safe it is and it is because of the rules that we all embrace.

Types of Shooting

Black Powder

With three different events, over both the 25- and 50-meter range, this discipline is often seen as a bit of fun everyone should enjoy.

ISSF

Competitors aim at a 10-ring target in the standing position, use only one hand to fire the pistol. This is the one you see in Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

Service Pistol

Three different matches for calibres from .32 to .38 over distances from 50 yards to 7 yards. It includes shooting from different positions with one or both hands with one match shot from the holster. This is a fun action match.

Our Facility

Most members chip in to help with working bees to keep us maintained and keep our three ranges constantly evolving.  While there is much on the to-do list, we’re proud of the club and ranges that our members have created.  Three ranges (1 x 50m and 2 x 25m), a safe room (ammunition free for inspecting guns), office area, generator (we’re off-grid) and a designated BBQ area.  We reckon you’ll love it too, or you can sign up for a few working bees yourself to add your influence.

Become A Member

Contact us on the contact form below to request a full join information kit.

Anyone wishing to join WDPC is encouraged to contact the Secretary to notify of your attendance and ensure you have a pleasurable introduction in finding out more about target pistol shooting and WDPC. If you are new to pistol shooting, we have an Induction & Training program for all new shooters. Don’t feel intimidated and we encourage ALL people to come along and give Competition Pistol Shooting a try. It’s a lot of fun, but SAFETY is our primary concern.

Potential members must be of good character, provide two references and photo identification. Before being allowed to handle firearms they must also complete a Firearms Registry declaration form available at the range.

All new members must attend a committee meeting and must bring along a completed P650 form (a mandatory police form, and comes in your join information kit).
